Candidate filing begins next week for August primary election
Anyone eyeing to run for public office in Chelan and Douglas counties in this year's primary and general elections will be able to do so starting next week on May 4.
Several county-level and state representative positions - including county assessor, auditor, clerk, sheriff, prosecuting attorney and more - are up for election. Find a full list of the open offices available here.
Some of these offices will require that the candidate pay a filing fee. People can learn more about these positions by calling the Chelan County Elections Department at 509-667-6808 or the Douglas County Elections Department at 509-888-6407 or visiting their respective websites.
Several would-be candidates this year have filed with the state Public Disclosure Commission as part of state requirements to report campaign financing. But to appear on the primary or general election ballots, they will all need to file with their county auditor's office next week.
Filing week ends Friday, May 8. The primary election will be on Aug. 4 and the general election on Nov. 3.
