Mount St. Helens Institute holds online talk for eruption anniversary

The Mount St. Helens Institute is holding an online event to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the Mount St. Helens eruption on May 18, 1980, which killed 57 people and forever altered the landscape.

USGS Scientist Emerita Carolyn Driedger is set to share her personal memories from the field at the time and discuss how the blast has affected emergency planning, volcano science and more.

The talk will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 18, and costs $10 per household to watch online.
