"Dog Jog is a family-friendly 5K fun run and walk that brings together runners, walkers, dogs and animal lovers to support the care of homeless pets," said BMHS Development Manager Steve Lenz in a news release. Participants can run or walk with their dogs, form fundraising teams with friends or coworkers while enjoying a morning outdoors while helping animals in need.
Booths hosted by local sponsors will be set up with information about pet support resources available throughout the Valley.
The event goal is to raise $40,000 to support BMHS's work providing shelter, veterinary care, adoption services and community pet support programs for animals across the Walla Walla Valley, Lenz said.
In addition to participating on event day, supporters are encouraged to create personal or team fundraising pages to help expand the event's impact. Community fundraisers can win prizes by inviting friends, family and coworkers to support their goal and help more pets receive the care they need while waiting for loving homes.
"Dog Jog is one of our favorite ways to bring the community together for animals," said BMHS CEO Dian Ver Valen. "Every step taken and every dollar raised helps pets receive the care and second chances they deserve."
Founded in 1967, the nonprofit BMHS is for animal welfare that serves the Walla Walla Valley. The organization provides shelter, veterinary care, adoption services and community programs that strengthen bonds between people and pets.
