Coroner identifies Chelan County inmate found dead in cell
The 53-year-old man found dead by correctional deputies at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center Sunday morning was identified as Scott A. Glass.
Deputies found Glass unresponsive when preparing to serve breakfast at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday and was declared dead about 16 minutes later.
No external or internal injuries were found in an autopsy, but the cause and manner of his death are pending final toxicology results, said Chelan County Coroner Earl Crowe. The toxicology results could take several weeks.
Glass was from Entiat and had a lengthy criminal history. He was most recently charged by prosecutors with possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. That case was dismissed Wednesday.
Glass is the first inmate under Chelan County supervision to die since 2021 when two other individuals died that year. In both these cases, the county settled in court over two wrongful death lawsuits filed by the families, one for $3.25 million and the other for $2.5 million.
