Tickets on sale for Walla Walla Choral Society performance of 'Requiem'

The final concert of the Walla Walla Choral Society's 2025-2026 season will be a performance of Mack Wilberg's "Requiem," and tickets are on sale now.

Artistic Director Robb Harrison said in a news release that the composition is meant to give attendees a sense of serenity.

"This 'Requiem' is a peace-filled requiem - it allows for the listener to recline into the experience," Harrison said. "An audience member is going to have the opportunity to get whatever they need from it. Whether it's joy, peace, calm, grief healing or a pleasant combination of them all, it will be found during this performance."

Choral students from College Place High School will join the choral society during the performance, accompanied by a full string section, organ and woodwinds. The Walla Walla Choral Society Master Chorus will also perform.

"The choir has taken very well to the rehearsals and so are the high-schoolers. They are showing great maturity," Harrison said. "This requiem is harmonically satisfying and not terribly difficult in its learning. Which, may I say, does not mean we get an easy time in the learning, it means we get to peel back layers in a more detailed structure. That becomes tremendously fun."

The performance is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Cordiner Hall, 46 S. Park St., in Walla Walla. Adult tickets are $25, student and senior tickets are $20 and family tickets are $20 apiece when four or more are purchased together.

Tickets can be purchased online at wwchoralsociety.org/get-tickets, or at the door.
