Toutle River Rest Area closure extended through May 22

The closure of both Interstate 5 Toutle River Rest Areas is now scheduled to extend through May 22, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.

Both the northbound and southbound rest areas, located just north of Castle Rock, were closed April 27 for annual maintenance. They are scheduled to reopen at 5 p.m. May 22.

During the closures, work crews will clean the rest areas, check electrical equipment and plumbing and clean the septic tank.
