Anacortes Seahawks 6

The Seahawks fell to the Pioneers on Monday, May 4, in a Northwest Conference game.

The game was tied 6-6 through seven innings. The Pioneers then scored in the top of the eighth to go ahead.

Anacortes took a 2-0 lead in the first inning only to see Nooksack Valley score four in the third to take a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the frame, the Seahawks rallied to tie the game 4-4.

Both teams scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning.

Anacortes' Hailey Rains was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, while Cora Myers was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Gwen Andrews 2-for-4 with a run scored, Emery Collier 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI, and Evie Hanes 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Anacortes had a total of 12 hits.

The Seahawks finish the regular season 6-8 in conference and 9-10 overall.

They open the Northwest 2A District Tournament at 4 p.m. Monday, May 11, in Lynden.

The Borderites beat the Seahawks in a Northwest Conference game Friday, May 1.

Blaine led 8-0 in the first inning, then Anacortes scored its five runs in the fourth inning.

Anacortes' Cora Myers was 4-for-4 with a run scored, and Gwen Andrews 3-for-3 with a double, walk, run scored and RBI.

Seahawks pitcher Evie Hanes pitched 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. She allowed four hits, one walk and struck out seven.

The Seahawks were shut out by the Lions on Thursday, April 30, in a Northwest Conference game.

The Golden Eagles beat the Seahawks in the Tuesday, April 28, Northwest Conference game.

Anacortes' Gwen Andrews, Emery Collier and Hailey Rains were each 2-for-4, while Cora Myers was 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored and three RBI.

The Seahawks lost despite outhitting the Golden Eagles 9-6.

Boys Soccer

Meridian Trojans 3,

The Trojans kept the sheet clean against the Seahawks on Thursday, April 30, in a Northwest Conference match.

Anacortes finishes its regular season 4-11 in conference and 5-12 overall.

The Seahawks were to open the Northwest 2A District Tournament on Tuesday, May 5, in a loser-out game at Archbishop Murphy.

The Seahawks fell to the Cubs on Tuesday, April 28, in a Northwest Conference match.

Owen Foley scored each of the Seahawks' three goals, with Noah Leon assisting on one.

Track and Field

The Seahawks won the team titles Friday, May 1, at the 118th Skagit County Track and Field Championships.

Anacortes finished the three-day meet ahead of runner-up Burlington-Edison in the boys' meet and ahead of runner-up Sedro-Woolley in the girls' meet.

Anacortes set three meet records.

Lucas Roberts set a meet record in the boys' high jump at 6 feet, 7 inches, breaking the record of 6-6 1/4 set in 1992 by Mount Vernon's Bill Cornelius.

Anacortes senior Maverick Ball ran the boys' 800-meter run in 1 minute, 53.01 seconds to better the 2024 meet record of 1:54.96 set by Mount Vernon's Nicholas Hoyer, and Anacortes senior Austin Duchene won the 400 in 48.85 to break the 1973 meet record of 49.44 set by Bob Bourns of Burlington-Edison.

Other event champions for Anacortes were Teagan Littke in the girls' high jump (5-0) and triple jump (33-1); Dylan Rowell in the boys' 1,600 (4:29.69) and 3,200 (9:46.90); Brennan Morgenthaler in the boys' long jump (19-9); Elliot Davis in the girls' javelin (111-0); and Alexis Johnson in the girls' 300 hurdles (48.23).

Anacortes won the boys' 400 relay (43.35) and the girls' 1,600 relay (4:14.39).

The Seahawks compete at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in a Northwest Conference meet at Oak Harbor.

Baseball

The Seahawks edged the Wildcats in the Thursday, April 30, Northwest Conference game.

Anacortes finishes its regular season 11-4 in conference and 14-6 overall.

The Seahawks open the Northwest 2A District Tournament at home at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, against Lakewood.

The Lions beat the Seahawks in the Tuesday, April 28, Northwest Conference game.

Anacortes' Aiden Lefave pitched 6 2/3 innings, and Wes Green got the final out on a strikeout.

Boys Golf

Skagit County Championships

The Seahawks placed third Wednesday, April 29, in the annual tournament.

Anacortes had a five-golfer total 424.

Vance Frerichs finished third with a 77 while Dex Hong and Sledge Martinez finished tied for fifth, both shooting 80.

The Seahawks were to wrap up their regular season on Tuesday, May 5, in a Northwest Conference match at Whidbey Golf Club.

They play in the Northwest 2A District Tournament on Monday, May 11, and Tuesday, May 12, at Avalon Golf Links.

Northwest Conference

The Seahawks won the eight-team match Tuesday, April 28, at Avalon Golf Links with a five-golfer total 418.

Anacortes sophomore Dex Hong finished second with a round of 77. He shot 36 on the back nine.

Vance Frerichs tied for third with a round of 80, while Sledge Martinez tied for eighth with an 83.

Girls Tennis

The Seahawks fell to the Mariners in the Friday, May 1, Northwest Conference match.

Anacortes' win came from Esther Jeong at No. 3 singles. The sophomore won 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11).

The Seahawks, 2-9 in conference and 2-11 overall, were to host Lakewood on Tuesday, May 5, then open the Northwest 2A District Tournament on Friday, May 8, at Sehome High School in Bellingham.

The Seahawks fell to the Golden Eagles in the Wednesday, April 29, Northwest Conference match.

At No. 4 singles, Anacortes' Maggie Miller battled for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10) victory, while in doubles Che Tipton and Esther Jeong won at No. 3 by the scores of 6-4, 7-5.
