Onalaska woman accused of stealing $12K from veterinary hospital pleads not guilty
May 8-The Onalaska woman arrested after allegedly stealing over $12,000 from a veterinary hospital pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.
Acacia X. Davidson, 35, faces one count each of first-degree identity theft and first-degree theft, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
Davidson made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Wednesday, where she was released on her own recognizance.
During the hearing, Davidson's attorney, Corddaryl Woodford, requested the parties proceed to an arraignment and entered not guilty pleas on behalf of Davidson.
The Chehalis Police Department issued a news release Tuesday regarding its investigation, which began in February after a local business owner reported a "significant theft complaint."
According to a probable cause affidavit, the business, State Ave Veterinary Hospital (Newaukum Valley Veterinary Services), had recently discovered unauthorized purchases on the owner's business account.
The purchases were allegedly made by Davidson, the former hospital manager - after her employment was terminated around December 2024.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Davidson, while employed, was allegedly "caught using the Bank of America business credit card to make personal purchases," according to the affidavit.
The owner, after speaking with Davidson, reportedly cancelled the card and issued new ones.
The owner, however, "said she later learned that the new credit cards would still get linked to the Amazon account by something called 'tokenizing,'" according to the affidavit.
Davidson was ultimately fired.
After taking over the vacant role, the new hospital manager reportedly noticed charges unrelated to the veterinary business and told the owner.
During a recent audit, the owner reportedly discovered roughly $12,000 in unauthorized Amazon purchases had been made between Dec. 12, 2024, and Feb. 19, 2026.
According to the affidavit, detectives confirmed some 90 transactions totaling $12,243.22 across two credit cards, and concluded the Amazon account allegedly belonged to Davidson.
They also learned that Davidson's address was allegedly used for every completed transaction, which included purchases of clothing, cosmetics, food and electronics.
On Tuesday, detectives arrested Davidson outside her current employer's business, Lower Columbia Veterinary Clinic, in Longview.
During a post-Miranda interview, Davidson allegedly acknowledged the $12,000 was "a lot of money" and "said she would be happy to pay it back," according to the affidavit.
Detectives booked her into the Lewis County Jail, where she stayed until her release the following day.
Davidson is scheduled for a trial-confirmation hearing on July 9.
