Friday's Prep Roundup: Two county doubles teams advance in tennis tournament
BELLINGHAM - Two Skagit County high school girls' tennis doubles teams advanced Friday into the quarterfinals of the Northwest 2A District Tournament.
Burlington-Edison's Hazel Cosgrove and Macy Hendrickson won their two matches 6-1, 7-5 and 6-0, 6-1, and Anacortes' Carter Bowman and Claire Dekker won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-1.
Each of the teams will continue the tournament on Saturday.
The other Burlington-Edison and Anacortes doubles teams were elimanted from the tournament Friday.
Each lost in the first round.

Burlington-Edison's Elise Light and Sophia Shane, and Anacortes' Kate Scheenstra, Che Tipton and Esther Jeong each won their first-round matches before being eliminated in the second round.
Sub-District 3A Tournament
OAK HARBOR - Sedro-Woolley had a singles player and a doubles team finish as runners-up in the four-team tournament.
Ruby Hudson lost in the tournament singles final 6-0, 6-3, and Akira Spagnolo and Chloe Larsen lost in the doubles final 6-1, 6-1.
Mount Vernon singles player Farah Briseno and the doubles team of Hazel Long and Katherine LeVasseur each finished third.
Briseno won her third-place match 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, and Long and LeVasseur won their third-place match 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4).
The top three singles players and top three doubles teams advance to the Northwest 3A District Tournament.

CONCRETE - The Lions fell to the Eagles in a first-round game of the Bi-District 1B Tournament.

Northwest Conference Last Chance Qualifier
SEDRO-WOOLLEY - La Conner won the girls' team title in the eight-team meet.
Winning titles for the Braves were Amelia Schwab in the 300 hurdles (56.59 seconds), Maicy Bowles in the shot put (25 feet, 4 3/4 inches), Cecilia Keith in the high jump (5-0) and Maeve McCormick in the pole vault (10-3).
La Conner won each of the three relays - the 400 in 51.39, the 800 in 1:48.75 and the 1,600 in 4:27.60.
In the boys' meet, La Conner had champions in Vireo Angell (110 hurdles, 18.71), Maxwell Page (300 hurdles, 48.28) and Jasio Borusinski (long jump, 19-6).
Sedro-Woolley had champions in Malakai Dorsey (boys' 200, 24.07) and Marigold Rappholz (girls' 100 hurdles, 18.23), and Mount Vernon had champions in Austin Justus (boys' high jump, 5-6), Jaqueline Castro (girls' 100, 13.72), Jasmine Madrid (girls' 400, 1:09.59) and Alexys Illman (girls' discus, 67-7 1/4).
