WSDOT inspections to close lane of I-5 Tuesday, Thursday

May 11-The Washington State Department of Transportation will perform annual inspections on Interstate 5 on Tuesday and Thursday, closing the right lane approaching the weigh-in-motion scale housed near Ridgefield and Kelso.

Weigh-in-motion scales measure the weight of large trucks while driving at highway speeds.

"These inspections help make sure the scales are working correctly to track truck weights, protect the highway from damage caused by overweight vehicles and keep traffic moving safely," according to a news release.

The right lane of northbound I-5 will close at the weigh-in-motion scale at Milepost 15.4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and at the weigh-in-motion scale at Milepost 45 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

WSDOT encourages drivers to slow down, stay alert and follow directional signs during the inspection.
