Elected leader, business owner, pastors join National Day of Prayer in Longview
Organizers say around 100 people gathered at R.A. Long Memorial Park on Thursday to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.

President Harry Truman signed a bill creating the day in 1952. It is observed on the first Thursday in May.
Local pastors, who meet regularly for prayers, formed the event, according to an event press release.
Longview Mayor Erik Halvorson prayed for local government.
Chuck Tilton, pastor of Longview's Father's House, sang.
Jeff Hoover, founding pastor of Longview's Evangel Christian Fellowship; Kyle Randall, owner of Game Winner Athletics Facility in Longview; and Todd Beal, pastor of New and Living Way Church in Kelso, also led prayers.
