The following are criminal cases heard recently in Skagit County Superior Court:
RAPE, MOLESTATION
A 29-year-old Mount Vernon man was found guilty Monday of second-degree child molestation, third-degree child molestation and three counts of third-degree rape of a child.
According to court records, a jury found Eduardo Sanchez-Flores guilty of committing the crimes in 2020 and 2021.
Records state that Sanchez-Flores sexually assaulted a girl who was 15 at the time.
Sanchez-Flores is to be sentenced June 11.
ANIMAL CRUELTY
A 36-year-old Burlington man was sentenced to nine months in jail Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree animal cruelty, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, conspiracy to possess methamphetamine and violating a protection order.
According to court records, on Dec. 3, 2024, Johnny Celestino Martinez shot and killed a dog when the dog came to defend a woman Martinez was in a verbal dispute with.
The woman had a no-contact order against Martinez.
After Martinez was taken into custody, drugs were found in a vehicle in which Martinez was a passenger.
In exchange for pleading guilty, Martinez had 27 other charges against him dropped.
