Friday's Prep Roundup: Sedro-Woolley sharp in postseason track and field meet
FERNDALE - The Sedro-Woolley High School track and field teams finished atop the team standings Friday at the Northwest 3A Sub-District Championships.
The four-team meet was a qualifier for the Northwest 3A District Championships.
Sedro-Woolley had wins Friday from Ethan DeJong in the boys' 300-meter hurdles (41.85 seconds), Jordan Janicki in the boys' pole vault (13 feet, 65 inches), Lyla Self in the girls' 200 (26.15), and Evie Thompson in the girls' javelin (106-0).
Sedro-Woolley also won the boys' 1,600 relay (3:30.74).
Mount Vernon's Mia Checketts won two titles on the meet's second day.
She took the girls' 800 (2:28.98) and girls' 3,200 (11:40.29).
The Mount Vernon boys' team had three champions - Samuel Riquelme in the 800 (1:59.74), Charles Lederle in the 3,200 (9:50.7) and Theodore Booker in the triple jump (40-7 1/2).
Mount Vernon also won the girls' 1,600 relay (4:23.81).
The district championships will be May 20 and May 22 at Shoreline Stadium.
Northwest 2A Sub-District Championships
MARYSVILLE - Anacortes had a strong showing on the second day of the meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Anacortes finished first among boys' teams and tied for first among girls' teams.
The five-team meet was a qualifier for the Northwest 2A District Championships.
Anacortes had wins Friday from Austin Duchene in the boys' 200 (22.60), Owen Kennedy in the boys' 800 (1:59.84), Dylan Rowell in the boys' 3,200 (9:36.63), Lucas Roberts in the boys' high jump (6-2), Marlo Olson in the girls' 200 (26.73), Ashley Becerra Guzman in the girls' 3,200 (12:23.57), Elliot Davis in the girls' javelin (105-6) and Teagan Littke in the girls' triple jump (32-10 3/4).
Anacortes also won the boys' 400 relay (43.32), the boys' 1,600 relay (3:23.47) and the girls' 1,600 relay (4:08.93).
Burlington Edison had wins Friday from Sydney Briggs in the girls' 100 hurdles (16.52), Matthew Benson in the boys' discus (144-3) and Brayden Crow in the boys' long jump (19-7 3/4).
The Northwest 2A District meet will be May 20 and May 22 at Lakewood High School.
