Streets closed to through traffic in Sedro-Woolley

SEDRO-WOOLLEY - Parts of Hodgin and Stendal streets in Sedro-Woolley are closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until June 12 because of the construction of Batey Square.

Access to The Depot Apartments at West Sedro Station and Backspins, which are at 953 Hodgin St., is available off Hodgin Street.

Batey Square at 1010 Hodgin St. is a five-story, mixed-use building featuring a commercial ground floor and 138 units on the upper four floors.

"The work they are doing on Hodgin is connecting the sewer, storm drains and the construction of sidewalks, curbs and gutters," City Engineer Peter Lane said. "Eventually, there will be crosswalk locations there and the developer will be extending the pat leading to Janicki ballfields."

Batey Square will also include parking to serve both the residential and commercial users, various open space areas, landscaping and other associated infrastructure.

The total area of the project is about 4 1/2 acres.
