Vancouver nonprofit to host educational events focusing on housing crisis, changes to tax law

May 28-Council for the Homeless will host two events this summer to teach residents about changes to federal tax laws and the growing housing crisis affecting older adults.

The Vancouver-based nonprofit will host a session June 11 where attendees can learn about the new federal tax law changes under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The session aims to teach taxpayers and businesses how they might be affected by the act, including changes to corporate giving.

A Q&A period will follow the session.

Then, on Aug. 26, Council for the Homeless will host a screening of "No Place to Grow Old," a documentary about the rapidly growing number of older adults falling into homelessness. The showing is in partnership with FVRLibraries.

Following the screening, local experts will hold a panel discussion, the nonprofit said in a news release.
