Cowlitz County coroner names workers who died in Nippon chemical spill

Cowlitz County Coroner Dana Tucker named on Saturday the workers who died in the Tuesday fatal chemical spill at the Nippon pulp and paper mill in Longview.

Her office identified the following workers. The employees' cities of residence were given on Sunday.

* Gilbert Bernal, 52, Kelso

* Tyler Covington, 29, Castle Rock

* Bradley Covington, 27, Castle Rock

* Robert Wilson, 48, Clatskanie

* Dale Miller, 54, Portland

* Jared Ammons, 35, Longview

* Braydon Finkas, 38, Cathlamet

* Clinton Doran, 26, Kelso

* John Forsberg, 51, Longview

* Norman Barlow, 58, Vancouver

Another worker died outside of Tucker's jurisdiction at a Portland hospital. That worker is named Dillon Miller, but Tucker could not provide his age or city of residence. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office could also not provide his age or last city of residence as of Saturday evening.

Candles and stickers are left outside Nippon pulp and paper mill after a fatal chemical spill on Tuesday in Longview.

Tucker urged the public to continue to respect the affected families.

"We ask everybody to respect the privacy, time and space of these families as they navigate this unimaginable loss," she said at Saturday's press conference. "This is a horrific tragedy that has profoundly impacted our community, and we appreciate the public's continued compassion and support."
