Friday's Prep Roundup: Anacortes' Davis wins state javelin title

TACOMA - Anacortes High School junior Elliot Davis won a state track and field title Friday at the Class 2A State Championships.

Davis had a girls' javelin throw of 135 feet, 9 inches to take the title at Mount Tahoma High School.

She finished 6 feet, 6 inches ahead of runner-up Teanna Clark of Port Angeles.

Davis had a personal-best mark for the second consecutive week. She had a mark of 123-0 to win the Northwest 2A District title.

Four other Anacortes athletes competed on the second day of the three-day meet.

Spencer Roberts tied for fourth in the boys' high jump (6-2), Lucas Roberts tied for fifth in the boys' high jump (6-0), Teagan Littke was eighth in the girls' triple jump (33-9 1/2) and Mia Kennedy was 12th in the girls' javelin (96-10).

Burlington-Edison's Dylan Dempsey tied for fifth in the boys' high jump (6-0).

The Anacortes boys' team sits in second place in its bid for a third consecutive state title.

The Seahawks are two points behind Lynden.

Class 3A State Championships

TACOMA - Sedro-Woolley's Ethan DeJong placed fourth in the boys' 110 hurdles.

The senior had a time of 14.89.

Sedro-Woolley's Malakai Dorsey was 11th in the boys' long jump (20-10 1/4), and teammate Jordan Janicki 11th in the boys' pole vault (13-6).

Class 2B State Championships

YAKIMA - Mount Vernon Christian's Jaxon Silver won the state title in the boys' long jump with a mark of 22-1 1/2.

The senior finished five inches ahead of runner-up Mathew Parvin of Morton-White Pass.

Also in the boys' long jump, La Conner's Yandel Rosales-Rojas was eighth (20-1 1/2) and Mount Vernon Christian's Seth Russell was 15th (18-1 3/4).

In other boys' events, La Conner's Flint Huizenga was 10th in the discus (132-3) and 15th in the shot put (41-5 1/4).

In girls' events, La Conner's Maeve McCormick was second in the pole vault (10-6), six inches behind champion Faith Hamilton of Northwest Christian (Colbert).

Also in girls' events, La Conner's Reese Bird was ninth in the discus (106-2) and 16th in the javelin (100-5), Mount Vernon Christian's Reese Hoksbergen ninth in the girls' long jump (15-2 1/4), and Mount Vernon Christian's Faith Borgman 12th in the girls' long jump (14-11).
