Assistance League of Southwest Washington holds annual luncheon
OGDEN - Assistance League of Southwest Washington held its annual meeting and luncheon on May 21 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver.
ALSW is an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to helping those in need throughout the community through its six philanthropic programs. Current membership stands at 60 members who contributed an impressive 9,000 volunteer hours during the most recent fiscal year.
The meeting opened with a slideshow presentation by outgoing Chapter President Michelle Craig, highlighting members in action throughout the past year as they supported ALSW's programs and fundraising events.
A special moment of the event was the presentation of the Ada Edwards Laughlin Award to member Lynda Ciri. Named after the co-founder of Assistance League, the award recognizes a member who demonstrates exceptional hard work and dedication behind the scenes. Lynda has been a member of ALSW for 20 years, serving as vice president of membership as well as a dedicated member of the Sleigh Bell Benefit, membership and assault survivor kit committees. She is also the one who sends thoughtful and meaningful cards to members throughout the year. This marks only the sixth time the award has been presented in the chapter's 23-year history.
The new Assistance League Board was sworn in as follows:
President: Stacy Mathieson; secretary: Kara Uhrich; treasurer: Tanya Persons; VP membership: Peggy Nitschke; VP philanthropy: Luanne Block; VP resource development: Pam Tetz; VP marketing: Gail Hetland; VP strategic planning: Chris Traver.
