YWCA hosting Juneteenth celebration Friday at Walla Walla Point Park

The North Central Washington YWCA in Wenatchee invites the public join them Friday to celebrate Juneteenth at Walla Walla Point Park.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday celebrating the country's end to slavery when soldiers during the Civil War enforced the rights of the emancipation proclamation in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865.

YWCA's celebration is Friday from 3-6 p.m at the Walla Walla Point Park, Ballfield 2, according to the YWCA's Facebook post.

Families can join the celebration to play kickball, fly kites, eat some food and get access to local resources, according to the post. Food will be provided by Burch Mountain BBQ.
