Josh Williams appointed to College Place School Board
Josh Williams is College Place School Board's new District 3 member, appointed after Todd Stubblefield stepped down in March.
Stubblefield, a local firefighter, had served on the board for more than 12 years and will continue working for the district as a substitute bus driver.
Williams was appointed to the position during the board's Tuesday, May 26, meeting. He is a West Region Area manager for Nutrien Ag Solutions, an agricultural service company based in Walla Walla.
Williams has also been a volunteer firefighter for Walla Walla County Fire District 4 since 2010. He is a lifelong Walla Walla County resident and has lived in College Place for the past 18 years. He and his wife have four children, three of whom attend CPPS.
In his letter of interest to the board, Williams said he cares deeply about maintaining high academic standards while also ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and included.
"I am especially interested in contributing to thoughtful decision-making around student achievement, teacher support and responsible resource allocation," Williams wrote. "I believe effective school board members must listen carefully, ask informed questions and collaborate respectfully with diverse stakeholders."
He said he would be committed to being an approachable and responsive board member for families, staff members and the larger community.
"I appreciated Josh's attitude of service to the community and our children as his reason for applying," Superintendent Jim Fry said in a news release announcing Williams' appointment. "To have children in each of our schools next year will give him a perspective that will prove very valuable to our board."
The District 3 term expires and will be up for election in November 2027.
