Vigil set for missing St. Helens city administrator

The city of St. Helens is hosting a candlelight vigil and concert in honor of longtime City Administrator John Walsh, who went missing Saturday after entering the Columbia River and is presumed dead.

A vigil and concert will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday at Columbia View Park on the St. Helens waterfront, according to a press release from the city.

The concert will feature the band Bon Bon Vivant, one of Walsh's favorite acts.

Before the music commences, a dedication to Walsh will take place.

Those who attend are encouraged to to leave notes, cards, flowers and other remembrances at a memorial for him at the park. Items will be given to his family.

A candlelight vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. for Walsh, who worked for the city for 14 years. Attendees are encourage to bring candles.

His body had not been recovered as of noon Wednesday.
