Teen was in critical condition after Toledo crash
A 16-year-old was in critical condition following a two-car collision in Toledo Monday.
Lewis County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the crash shortly after 6 p.m.
According to the sheriff's office, a Honda CR-V SUV carrying a family of four was heading northbound on Jackson Highway approaching Tucker Road while a Honda sedan driven by the female teen was at the stop sign on Tucker Road.
Field Operations Chief Rick Van Wyck said the teen "failed to stop" at the posted stop sign.
A witness reported that the sedan turned left onto Jackson Highway toward Toledo, causing the CR-V to t-bone the sedan.
"The 16-year-old driver was struck on the driver's side of the vehicle causing substantial injuries," Van Wyck said.
The teen driver was airlifted in critical condition from the South Lewis County Airport to Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Van Wyck said a female passenger was taken to a Providence hospital "for evaluation and precautionary measures."
"No injuries were reported for the family of four that struck the 16-year-old," the chief said.
All occupants involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
