Festival of Flight takes off Saturday

Pangborn's Festival of Flight event is set to take off Saturday, commemorating the Miss Veedol's non-stop, transpacific from Japan with airplanes on display, helicopter rides, food and more at this yearly community event.

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pangborn Memorial Airport, 3762 Airport Way outside East Wenatchee.

In years past, a replica of the Miss Veedol was at the event with other vintage and modern aircraft. Braver visitors can even schedule a 20-minute flight on a North American World War II B-25 bomber here. Very few seats remained Friday morning.
