Heat advisory issued for Cowlitz County, Rainier through Tuesday evening

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for parts of Southwest Washington and northern Oregon, including Cowlitz County and Rainier.

The advisory is in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures between 91-94 degrees are expected.

People in affected areas are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in cool areas out of the sun during the day and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Those without air conditioning can use fans to keep air moving. Closing windows during the day and opening them at night is also helpful.
