Weather forecast for Western WA: Rain, then rain, followed by rain

The National Weather Service describes the next week’s worth of weather as “unsettled.” We’re calling it wet.

Some forecasts say there’s not a dry day in sight through next week. Others say we might get a break mid-week.

In the short term, they agree, there’s rain. From Wednesday through Thursday night, one-half inch of rain was forecast to fall in Tacoma and up to 1 inch in Olympia.

And there’s wind.

Gusts in the Tacoma and Olympia areas are expected to reach 35 miles per hour on Thursday. The blow should peak in the late afternoon and early evening.

As it usually does, the coast will face the brunt of the storm with gusts reaching 45 miles per hour at Westport.

The Weather Service reminds residents to be ready for power outages and falling branches.

Temperature are cooling down compared with October’s warm series of storms. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s, with lows in the 30s and 40s.

In the Cascades, the snow level will drop to near 3,000 feet.

The Skokomish River, a repeat offender, is expected to flood on Friday.
