Hot weather is forecast for the Tacoma region next week. How warm will it get?
Get ready for a heat wave.
According to the National Weather Service, the greater Puget Sound region is expected to experience hot temperatures starting July 25.
According to data provided by the National Weather Service from the National Blend of Models, Tacoma has a greater than 50 percent chance of being warmer than 85 degrees July 26-28, with a 60 percent chance of being above 90 degrees Wednesday. It is possible the heat would extend into Friday and beyond.
With hotter conditions come more risks for those who are sensitive to the heat. According to the National Weather Service, people should hydrate and eat and dress lightly.
The weather service also recommends that people avoid being outside in the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and stay in cooler places during the hotter parts of the day.
The warmer weather, according to the report, also causes water-related incidents to increase, so people are encouraged to use life jackets or other flotation devices while in the water.
