Power outage updates: Wind storm continues across Pierce County area Tuesday evening

A storm packing rain, snow and high winds continued to pummel Western Washington on Tuesday evening with hundreds of people still without power.

In Tacoma, a tree fell on an occupied vehicle in the 4700 block of South 48th Street Tuesday. Fire personnel were able to free the occupant and transport them to a local hospital. The victim was reported to have minor injuries.

9 p.m. update

Tacoma Public Utilities: The utility is reporting four outages affecting 17 customers.

Puget Sound Energy: The regional utility said 120,000 of its customers have lost power at some time during the storm. It currently has 212 outages affecting 9,626 customers. Nearly 1,000 customers were without power in South Hill with an estimated repair time of 11:30 p.m. In Buckley, 466 customers are without power. Between McKenna and Eatonville, 137 are affected by an outage.

Peninsula Light Company: The utility was reporting about 20 outages affecting 1,600 customers. The worst hit areas appear to be on the Key Peninsula west of Lakebay and nearby Herron Island with more than 900 affected.
