Weather updates: Evacuation orders being lifted across parts of Pierce County

All evacuation orders in the Orting city limits have been lifted after flooding from an atmospheric river affecting the Puget Sound, but residents are asked to stay cautious in case weather conditions worsen.

On Wednesday, evacuation orders and warnings were issued for some areas within Orting. People living in the Village Green neighborhood and the homes off Daffodil Northeast can return home, according to the city in a Facebook post.

In Sumner, Rainier View Level 3 evacuation orders were canceled as the Puyallup River continues to decline, according to the city.

All evacuations were lifted in Puyallup and residents who were asked to leave can return, according to the Puyallup Police Department.

The Riverwalk Trail is closed until further notice to assess damage and repairs, Puyallup police say.

A flood watch is in effect for Pierce County and other parts of western Washington through Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest rain is over.

There is a flood warning in effect for the White River in King and Pierce counties as water levels rise.

Road closures

State Route 162 near Rainier Avenue Southeast to milepost 10 near Harman Way is closed due to water over the roadway, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Houston Road, State Street and Stewart Road Bridge remain closed in Sumner.

State Route 410 between Enumclaw and Greenwater remains closed to all but local traffic Friday morning, according to WSDOT.

School closures/delays

Carbonado School District: 2-hour delay, No EK, emergency bus route.

White River School District: Closed.
