See a snowflake on your weather app? It’s possible in the Tacoma area this week

The National Weather Service says there’s a small chance of snow this week.

Rain showers will persist through the week, but there’s a possibility of a mix of rain and snow falling in the lowlands in the South Puget Sound region in the overnight hours and early in the mornings – though that precipitation could change to rain as temperatures rise throughout the day. If it does snow, it’s unlikely to stick, according to a weather briefing from the National Weather Service’s Seattle office, though the Olympic Peninsula and Cascade Valleys could see “brief snow accumulations.”

“The unsettled pattern may continue next weekend, as temperatures slowly warm for Western Washington,” the briefing states.

NWS is forecasting temperatures at the lowest around 32 degrees and highest around 45 degrees for the week, the agency reported online.

The NWS is expecting snowfall in the mountains around the Cascade passes and warns drivers to expect snow-covered roads and minor travel delays.
