Immigration: Lady Liberty’s words beat columnist’s

Re: “Trump’s immigration plan a step forward” (TNT, 8/11).

Lady Liberty has a reply for columnist Jay Ambrose’s aversion to poor immigrants: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free ...”

Perhaps schoolchildren could be taught once again to sing those words of Emma Lazarus, found on the Statue of Liberty. In the meantime, as even Ambrose acknowledges, “immigrants are a net economic gain.”
