Sports columnist John McGrath contends Michael Bennett’s job is standing for the national anthem. Neither NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell nor Coach Pete Carroll make that case.
My plan as a Seahawks fan is to buy a Bennett jersey, hopefully after they win the Super Bowl again. Still, I might be just as happy to do it now assuming Bennett wins a few formerly closed hearts.
I mistakenly thought sports writers were supposed to write about great plays, trades and how certain calls were right or wrong. If the fiercest motivation McGrath has is to get mad because a football player has a conscience, then I’ve got two words for him: Fox News.
