Does stinky marijuana need a task force study? A Washington state senator wants one. We have questions.
In this week’s Five Spot column — Five questions for the Washington legislator who wants to create a state task force on marijuana odor.
1. Would you consider naming it the Washington Joint Commission on Joint Emissions?
2. Will task force members do a thorough field study of the worst odor sites? And if so, who will remember enough and feel motivated enough afterward to compile the data?
3. As one mitigation measure, should the state build a strategic reserve of scented candles?
4. Will the task force submit its findings to the Legislature at 4:20 p.m. on April 20, 2020?
5. If you single out the smell of weed for possible punitive action, isn’t that nasal profiling?
