Sen. Patty Murray, Tiffany Smiley met with TNT’s endorsement team. Here’s the video

On Friday, Sept. 23 Democrat Patty Murray and Republican Tiffany Smiley joined members of The News Tribune, Tri-City Herald and Olympian editorial boards for a remote endorsement meeting in advance of November’s general election. Smiley is challenging Sen. Murray for the U.S. Senate seat she’s held since 1993.

Endorsement interviews conducted by The News Tribune Editorial Board are scheduled with both candidates in attendance. Each candidate is provided the opportunity to answer questions posed by members of the editorial board, and responses are held to roughly two minutes in an attempt to ensure equal speaking time. Due to time constraints and the endorsement interview format, responses are not fact-checked in real time.

Murray and Smiley have two debates scheduled in late October. The News Tribune Editorial Board will be issuing its endorsement in the race prior to ballots being mailed on Oct.
