TNT endorsements at a glance - Editorial Board picks for Aug. 4 2020 primary election

Here are The News Tribune Editorial Board’s choices for several important election contests on the Aug. 4, 2020 primary election ballot. The links below will take you to our full-length endorsements previously published online and in print.

The list isn’t exhaustive. We focused on all local contests (Pierce County offices and state legislative seats) with a competitive primary (more than two candidates). For statewide and congressional offices, we only endorsed in open races (no incumbent running for reelection). We plan to make picks in the remaining local and statewide races, including governor, before the November general election.

Endorsements were reached by consensus after we interviewed candidates and did other research. Endorsements are nothing more than informed recommendations, intended to promote civic discourse and encourage voters to dig deeper.
