Anthem: Get your pop culture references right

Re: “Carroll should coach team on anthem values,” (TNT, 9/9).

Paul Mitchell’s guest viewpoint was heartfelt but could have benefited from a bit of attention from the editors.

The writer references a song by the Lovin’ Spoonful, a band of the 1960s, based upon Ecclesiastes 3:1. The song “Turn! Turn! Turn!” was performed by The Byrds, not the Lovin’ Spoonful. Pete Seeger wrote it it and the Byrds covered it in 1965 and it hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

If you are going to use pop culture references to make your point, try and get it right.
