Lincoln High: Students should relish Chinese adventure

Re: “Lincoln kids get ready for Great Wall, pandas,” (TNT, 9/15).

What a pleasure to read such a positive story about Lincoln High School kids. It seems the TNT generally enjoys putting anything but positive stories on the front page. What a welcome change.

For the Chinese president to invite 100 kids to visit four cities in China and foot the bill for travel and expenses is generous of him and his country. Think of the many doors that will open to these students, teachers and chaperones. International travel is much more than flying.

The kids will learn about Chinese culture, customs, dress, food and so much more. It is sure to instill a thirst for adventure and more travel. We need to be proud of these kids and the wonderful opportunity open to them. I hope they have an outstanding, memorable time on the trip and as they share their experiences upon their return.

A great suggestion for them is to keep a journal of their trip, things they do and see and their feelings and reactions to everything. It will help them reminiscence about a wonderful adventure years later.
