Election: Remember the low-wage workers
This letter is for the governor, state legislators and anyone with the power to create change in Washington State.
I am 40-years-old and cannot find a permanent position in the warehouse industry where I have worked for the past ten years. During this time, I observed companies discarding people and then hiring others at a lower rate of pay and without benefits.
I live paycheck to paycheck, and this practice is harming our economy, our hope, and our future. I would like to know if someone in the government cares about the hard working Americans who have made this country great and need the protection of their government to be able to survive. Over and over again, big businesses have taken advantage of underemployed, under-educated, uninsured, and disadvantaged workers by offering temporary, low-wage jobs overseas.
Please help keep jobs in America. Put a stop to the practice of hiring only temporary workers to avoid having to pay full-time wages and more benefits. Think of the futures of our working class people, and the future of this great country, I pray for your understanding and your ability to create change.
Show me that you actually care about creating permanent jobs here at home.
