Judge: Blinn most qualified for Pierce bench
There have been a couple letters recently that have suggested Dwayne Christopher is the best candidate for Pierce County Superior Court Judge, Position 8. For those who have not yet voted and may be undecided in this race, a quick comparison of their legal experience, civic involvement and endorsements will show that Grant Blinn is by far the most qualified candidate.
Christopher has the endorsement of his former employer as his primary credential. Blinn has been endorsed by almost four dozen judges. These include a State Supreme Court justice, State Appeals Court judges, and numerous Superior, District and Municipal Court judges.
Blinn has served as a prosecutor, a criminal defense attorney and a Municipal Court judge. Christopher has served as a judicial assistant and insurance company litigator. Blinn was rated “exceptionally well qualified” by the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association, while Christopher did not seek a rating. Perhaps this was due to Christopher’s lack of relevant experience.
The News Tribune did offer Christopher a tepid endorsement in the top-two primary, which he still cites. However, Christopher’s lack of actual judicial experience was explicitly mentioned when the News Tribune endorsed Blinn for the general election.
