Trump: The high road will take us through the next four years

Donald J. Trump was not my choice for president. I don’t agree with his positions on many issues. I resent his non-inclusive rhetoric, and I don’t believe he is qualified in his temperament, experience, or knowledge to be commander-in-chief.

However, now that he has been elected through our electoral process, I would like to make something very clear: as a mature U.S. citizen, I will not question the legitimacy of his presidency; nor will I demean his character, forward false and conspiratorial emails about him, draw a “Hitler” mustache on his likeness, ridicule his name, or vow to deride anything he says, does, stands for, or hopes simply because I didn’t vote for him.

To do any of these things would be puerile and counter-productive. Instead, I will work hard to help ensure the next four years are not disastrous, and the next president is elected after factual, thoughtful and careful consideration.
