Education: Private school tuition should be a tax deduction
Being a child in a family that has chosen private school as an education option, I do not think families should have to pay for both private and public schools.
For families who put their children through public schools, they pay taxes which take care of the payment, but families with children in private school pay for both. They are required to pay taxes which fund public schools along with their tuition for the private school. This is something that prevents people from sending their children to private school, and this is unfair.
Adults should be able to claim a tax deduction which could be put towards their children’s tuition. Eight states allow this to be done. In these states, parents claim a tax deduction and receive the money which would go towards public school funding.
