Nutcracker: Other shows fill in for loss of Tacoma ballet

Yes Virginia, there is a Nutcracker! And it is beautiful family entertainment.

On Dec. 17 and 18, Dance Theatre Northwest will perform “Nutcracker” at the Mount Tahoma High School Auditorium in Tacoma. For their 26th “Nutcracker,” all new scenery and costumes will delight audiences in a handicapped accessible facility with free parking and low ticket prices.

I had the honor of previewing parts of Dance Theatre Northwest’s “Nutcracker” last week at the Narrows Glen Retirement Center, one of many community venues that DTN serves. The dancers were breathtaking, the costumes exquisite.

No “Nutcracker”? Ain’t so Virginia.
