Sounders: More respect needed for the Sounders
I was disappointed by the exposure given to the Sounders win in the MLS Cup in the Sunday 12/11 edition. The MLS Cup may not have the splendor or history of the Super Bowl or the World Series, but you better believe that it is does for the players and coaches of the team, as well as a huge and rabid number of local supporters.
Not only did the “Champions” or a similar headline escape the front page of the paper, above or below the fold, but it also failed to warrant the top story in the sports section. Instead we were subject to yet another John McGrath article about a college football game that won’t take place for a couple weeks or so.
Whether you follow soccer or not, this accomplishment by the Sounders this season, achieving what they did and how they did it, is worthy of front page news.
