City manager: This is why strong mayor is needed
Re: “Pauli hired too fast,” (TNT, 5/18).
Your editorial about the hiring of Tacoma City Manager Elizabeth Pauli complained that the citizens were denied a “chance to provide pushback or buy-in”. You complain citizens should not be limited to “vanilla facts.”
If only there was a way to create a system where citizens would know what the person who will run the city will do, what that person believes and what that person wants the future to be.
Imagine citizens having months to question and then decide on their own who will run their city.
As you know, there is such a system, and it is called the strong mayor form of government, which this newspaper editorial board opposed.
See any irony?
