Marijuana: U.S. attorney general out of touch

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says it’s time to get tough on criminal sentencing again. Given his unrealistic comments about the legalization of cannabis in Colorado and Washington, it’s getting time for the Trump administration to get rid of him. Sessions is out of touch with reality.

The War on Drugs has been a dismal failure. All it has done is unleash attacks on our civil liberties and empower a Gestapo-like agency, the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Sessions refuses to recognize reality. Most Americans realize that our ridiculous campaign against cannabis has failed, and the majority of us feel it’s time to legalize, regulate and tax cannabis just as we do for our most dangerous drug, alcohol.

Who can understand Sessions’ comments on cannabis? It’s as if when he was nine years old, he saw the propaganda film “Reefer Madness” and still considers it a truthful documentary.

Here’s one thing I know: Last year, Americans spent over $6 billion to enjoy legal cannabis as adults. The sun still rises and sets, people go to work and pursue their lives, and nothing bad has happened with our experiment in individual liberty.

It’s time for Sessions to go.
