Restaurants: Other states give more information

Re: “Tacoma health agency rarely releases restaurant closures,” (TNT, 5/23).

I was surprised and disappointed when we moved here nearly 12 years ago that there were no restaurant ratings. I previously lived in Los Angeles County where all restaurants were required to visibly post their health department ratings (A-C). It was very easy to find out why some had a grade lower than A.

My home state of Alabama posts numeric restaurant ratings, with customers knowing what anything less than 100 means.

I don’t understand why Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department can’t at least show restaurant closures on its website.
