Lock downs: Better notification needed at schools

Am I the only parent concerned with the unimpressive school lock down notifications from Tacoma Public Schools?

Recently I received a phone call that Jason Lee Middle School was on lock down for the second time that day. They did not call regarding the first lock down, just included it in a blanket call. The information given was “police activity.”

After calling the school, and getting very little information, we were concerned to let our 14-year-old son walk home. Then to find out from him they were locked down twice for shootings near the school is very unacceptable.

TPS needs to keep us in the know!
