Crime: The truth starts with accurate language

Re: “2 UW rowers charged with sharing sexually explicit images” (TNT, 8/5).

I strongly disagree with the wording chosen for the article reporting. It reads, “video of them having sex with a ‘highly intoxicated’ freshman student without her consent.”

Sex without consent is rape.

The journalist should have more accurately written: “video of them raping a ‘highly intoxicated’ freshman student”

Reputable journalism owes it to our society and to our youth to state the truth.
