Anthem: Attention seekers spoil joy of football
I use to enjoy watching pro football. It was a chance to get away from the concerns of the day, watching two teams vie for a win, spending a few idyllic hours away from life’s daily strife.
It’s changed now. What used to be about picking a team and reveling in the contest has now become an opportunity for some millionaire players to voice social discord using attention-gathering behavior.
Seahawks lineman Michael Bennett isn’t out on the streets with other social protesters. He’s there being viewed by millions of people on the bench making himself the center of attention.
He’s ruining the idea and enjoyment of the game. But then maybe he’s just insecure and needs the attention.
