Immigration: Place value on legal status

I continually hear how immigrants build the U.S. This is true, but the one thing that has been lacking in this statement is that they were “legal” immigrants. Those who applied for entry here had marketable skills, learned English and assimilated into communities.

The U.S. spends a lot on illegal immigrants, funds that could be used to improve the status of our own citizens, improve infrastructure and other necessary services.

It is a slap in the face of taxpayers when local governments spend hundreds of thousands for defense of individuals who are not legal citizens. Where will it stop?
