Kate Steinle: Immigration status not on trial
The editorial cartoon in the Dec. 5 TNT is a disgrace. Yes, justice has committed hara-kiri over the Kate Steinle case, but not for the reason the cartoon implies.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that Jose Ines Garcia Zarate was not on trial for being in the country illegally. He is most certainly guilty of that.
But he was on trial for murder, which has nothing to do with his immigration status.
The jury acquitted him. Now deport him. Case closed.
